Banquets/Meals/Weddings
Head chair-persons plan the meal or luncheon with the requesting party. Committee members prepare food, serve and clean up. Binders from past banquets are to be kept in the secondary campus kitchen for reference. Banquets that are held annually are as follows:
Awards Night/ Art Show – high school event/community
The committee is responsible for setting up tables, making bars and punch, and serving. Held in
May.
Bethany Banquet – community event/fundraiser
This is a large banquet, usually held in April. Four co-chairs will plan the meal and many other
workers will help serve it.
Christmas Banquet – high school student event
The committee is to help the student council with the meal planning, preparation, and serving.
Held in mid December.
Jr/Sr Banquet – high school student event
The committee is responsible the help the Junior class with meal planning, preparation,
serving, and clean up. Held the first Friday in May.
Pops Concert – high school event/community
The committee is responsible setting up, decorating, and serving popcorn and soda. Held in May.
Cards/Labels
Purchases all occasion cards and sells them at the elementary school campus, school meetings, and special school activities throughout the year. Members are also in charge of promoting, collecting, and counting labels and miscellaneous seals for various label promotions. The committee alerts teachers and PIA members of promotions and orders teacher selections of the promotional items.
Cookbooks
This committee will be responsible to put together a new cookbook and/or checking into the possibility of re-ordering previous cookbooks. Tasks will include contacting the cookbook company, collecting and organizing recipes, and ordering and selling the books. This committee is a two year commitment.
Officers
The PIA executive committee sets up committees prior to the start of each school year, and continues to oversee these fundraising and service projects throughout the year. Upon request of the board, assists them in collecting and organizing names for functions; i.e. Fall Harvest Auction Food and Bargains Galore Thrift Store. Serves on the “Teacher Requests” committee, hears ideas and concerns regarding PIA members and committees. Organizes the Parent in Action meeting scheduled in October and April, records meeting minutes, and maintains financial records. Creates a list of nominees of the next year’s executive committee and maintains communication through the use of the CWC school meme “The Crusader Weekly.” This committee consists of a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and 2 parent representatives.
Open House
Chair and co-chair persons organize the desserts for the Elementary campus Open House evening event at the elementary campus, usually held in the first week of October. Other committee members assist with decorations, set up, serving, and clean up. All veteran CWC 4K-5th grade families will be asked to donate dessert, ice cream, drinks, paper products, or money.
Room Parent/Teacher Appreciation
The individual room parent helps with special outings and class trips if requested. Plans the class Christmas party and brings treats for various school parties upon the teacher’s request. 7th grade room moms are in charge of organizing the 8th grade graduation refreshments (planned by the 8th grade students). 8th grade room moms are in charge of organizing basketball game refreshment sales. The committee plans a week of special activities to show our appreciation for teachers. Room parents take care of planning, preparing, and serving lunch on the days when there is no public school hot lunch. Room parents put together theme baskets to be auctioned off at the yearly auction. Room parents will assist in health clinics when requested by administration (i.e. hearing and vision screenings, lice checks). Co-chairs are responsible to organize and communicate with the room moms.
Co-chairs are not expected to be one of the room moms.
School Cleaning – Elementary Campus
Chair and co-chair persons schedule the days and times with the advice of the janitor and faculty, organizes cleaning assignments and keeps a list of those in attendance and jobs completed. A list is published each year of approximately 40 families in grades 5K-5th grade (4K is optional at this time) who are required to clean the elementary campus at the end of the school year. If a responsible family is unable to fulfill this obligation, a monetary donation is to be made to hire out your share of the labor. Arrangements should be made with the chair/co-chair before the set date for cleaning.
T.R.I.P. (Tuition Reduction Incentive Program)
This committee is set up to assist families in reducing personal tuition expenses by purchasing certificates from various businesses. A percentage of the purchase price is credited to the family’s tuition bill in the fall and spring. One percent of the credit is kept by Parents in Action to cover expenses. This also serves as a fundraiser for the school. The committee members are responsible for assisting in operating the program.
Bargains Galore Thrift Store
Volunteers work in various capacities at the school’s Thrift Store to help sort, price, display, and sell donated items. The store is open on Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Workers are needed during store hours to service customers. The profits from the store go to the general fund of the school for operational expenses and play a major role in keeping overall tuition costs down.
New Family Partnership Program
This committee will work with the Advancement Committee to welcome new families in the school. The chair will be responsible in putting together a welcome basket for each new family, as well as setting up mentors for the new families. Committee members will be responsible to mentor new families by developing a relationship with them and communicating with them throughout the year.
Kitchen Committee
This committee is responsible for clean up of the kitchen at the secondary campus at the end of the school year. They are also responsible for taking inventory of the silverware and contacting the PIA treasurer if any needs to be ordered.
District IV Basketball Tournament
Head chair persons plan meals for the two-day February basketball tournament. Committee needs to be in contact with the 8th grade room parents to work together on menus and times shared for serving meals and snacks. This event is in Waupun every other year in the odd numbered years.
Spring Teacher’s Conference
This committee will plan and serve a luncheon for the Wisconsin CSI Schools’ Teachers’ Conference when held in Waupun.
