How does the Bible apply to the decisions you make in your walk with Christ? In what ways does a book written 2,000 and more years ago still speak to us as God’s people today? In Biblical Perspectives this semester, we will examine areas in which we can make practical applications of biblical norms to those living in the 21st Century.
We will begin by seeing how the Bible is truly the inspired Word of God, and look at what it says about authority in the world today. Secondly, we will focus on how we as Christians should go about making the tough decisions which face us as we anticipate life-changing choices in the coming years. We will see how difficult these decisions may be in light of the increasing pressures of a world which seems to be growing more and more sinful.
A sizable section of the course will be spent concentrating on issues of dating, marriage, and family life for the Christian. Nearly all of you will travel this pathway in the next ten years, becoming the primary influence on the next generation of people in the kingdom of God. We will examine how important it is for Christ to be at the center of our dating relationships, our marriages, and our families.
A growing example of the sinfulness and growing anti-Christian thinking in the world of the 21st Century is the New Age Movement, which is really not “new” at all. We will examine how we as Christians can recognize the growing influence of New Age thinking and look at what biblical principles we can use to fight this growing power of Satan.
Finally, we will examine how you as a Christian can live and respond to the growing sinfulness in the world around you. This unit will tie together the topics discussed in the course and will send you on your way with what hopefully will be a firm grasp of a solid Biblical perspective on our world.
